MARK

DIDSBURY

When Mark first came to me, he'd been to a couple of showrooms & was feeling a bit lost about what to do with his space. The open plan living area in his converted Didsbury flat is cosy & is the perfect living space for 1-2 people. The compact nature of the room led him to believe he was looking for a grey gloss handleless kitchen with a light worktop, but working through the design process he didn't seem too enthusiastic about the idea. He wanted to do everything he could to make the space feel open & bright, but he also wanted something that was quite cool & that would make a strong feature in the room.

Dark definitely doesn't have to mean dingy & this kitchen is a great example of that.

While we began on the grey gloss road, after some careful consideration (& a little bravery on Mark's part) he settled on this bold & creative colour scheme. Although the room has a smaller footprint, there is plenty of natural light & ceiling height to make up it.

Together we took the time to design this strong handleless kitchen & we allocated every single unit to a specific use to make sure he could have as much storage as possible in the new simple layout that he chose. Items like the pull out larder, a built-in bin under the sink, integrated dishwasher & washing machine mean that although this kitchen is small, it sure is mighty & ultimately gives Mark everything he needs on a day to day basis & when entertaining friends & family.

Mark's thoughts...

"Francesca and Design by Helium were exactly what I needed when looking for a new kitchen. I've worked in sales for 14+ years and never resorted to a "pushy" sales technique, so I really didn't appreciate the approach of many "big name" kitchen companies who were looking for an order to be placed shortly after a single design consultation, with very little creative assistance. Meeting with

Francesca, after a facebook recommendation, was a breath of fresh air - making me feel very comfortable with the process from day one. While I had some initial ideas of what I thought I wanted (the typical high gloss handleless) I have, with Francesca's creative help, ended up with a kitchen far removed from that and I couldn't be happier. We went through several possible layouts and designs and making changes or asking questions was never an issue, even late in the process.

I am certain (based on some quotes received) that to get the same quality of product and service from the well-known companies would have cost several thousand more. While I'm sure many would be nervous about trusting a small local company with such a major investment and decision, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend getting your new kitchen from Design by Helium."
